Tratos’ Healthy Homes Project, which is lobbying for better legislation, for cables used in UK housing construction, received a boost at this week’s Conservative Party Conference as visitors and MPs pledged their support.
Earlier this year, the UK witnessed one of the most shocking failures in Building Safety at Grenfell. At the same time the country’s adoption of EU regulation in the form of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) came into effect for fire retardant cables.
The UK’s largest independent cable manufacturer, Tratos, believes that while CPR is a valuable step forward, it doesn’t go far enough. The company is calling for tougher cable legislation to deliver improved fire safety performance and help reduce the spread of fire.
Throughout the Conference, Tratos highlighted issues concerning cable safety and why the call for greater safety should not be overlooked.
