Keynote speaker at Made in Britain Impact Awards 2025

On the 5th of November 2025, I had the great honour of delivering a keynote speech at the Made in Britain Impact Awards 2025, an inspiring event that celebrates the very best of British manufacturing. It was a privilege to represent my company, Tratos, and stand among so many industry leaders, innovators, and visionaries, all united by a shared commitment to strengthening the UK’s manufacturing sector.

The event began with a warm and thoughtful welcome from John Pearce, CEO of Made in Britain. His words reminded us all of the remarkable resilience and ingenuity that British manufacturers have demonstrated over the past year. The awards showcased excellence across a wide range of categories, from Heritage and Innovation to Exports and Sustainability, capturing the true dynamism and diversity of British manufacturing.

I was honoured to deliver a keynote speech titled Rebuilding Great British Manufacturing.” Drawing on Tratos’ long and proud experience as a leading manufacturer of high-quality cables, I spoke about the vital importance of innovation, sustainable practices, and international competitiveness in today’s rapidly evolving industrial landscape.

In my address, I emphasised that the revival of British manufacturing is not simply an economic necessity, but a moral and cultural one. Manufacturing, to me, is not just about machines; it is about character, teamwork, and purpose. I shared my personal journey as an industrialist who chose to build and invest in factories here in the UK, often against the odds and in the face of scepticism. I did so because I believe deeply in British talent, British resilience, and the spirit that has always defined this nation.

Manufacturing, I reminded the audience, represents far more than production. It embodies pride, skill, and a profound sense of contribution to society. By continuing to invest in our factories and, above all, in our people, we can ensure that Britain reclaims its rightful place as a global hub of industrial excellence and innovation.

Looking ahead, I outlined my vision for a modern British manufacturing renaissance, one driven by smart factories, green energy, and highly skilled engineers. I believe our success depends on three essential pillars: inspiring education for the next generation of decision-makers, supportive government policies that truly reward production, and a renewed national pride in creating tangible, world-class products.

The Made in Britain mark, I said, stands for quality, reliability, and integrity — values that make British products trusted and respected around the world. Ultimately, I see manufacturing as a vital force connecting Britain to its future. Through innovation, sustainability, and determination, we can — and must — rebuild our industrial strength and restore Britain’s global influence.
